Privacy Policy

Overview
FloodWatch UK is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information:
- Usage data: Anonymous analytics including pages visited, time on site, and referring URLs.
- Postcode searches: If you use our postcode checker, the postcode is sent to Postcodes.io to obtain coordinates. Those coordinates are then sent to the Environment Agency API to find nearby areas. We do not store the postcode search.
Cookies
We do not use Google Analytics. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate usage measurement. Third-party services listed below may receive standard request data such as your IP address and browser information when your browser connects to them.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Environment Agency API: Nearby flood areas, live warnings and readings are fetched directly from EA servers.
- Postcodes.io: Converts an entered postcode into coordinates for the nearby-area lookup.
- OpenStreetMap: Map tiles are loaded from OSM servers.
- Vercel: Hosts the website and provides aggregate web analytics.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or delete your personal data. Since we collect minimal data, there is typically no personal data to manage. Contact us at info@floodwatch.co.uk with any privacy enquiries.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
